The Pacera FC branding project centered on creating a visual and emotional identity that celebrated Makassar’s maritime heritage while appealing to a modern sports audience. The challenge was to integrate cultural elements like the Pinisi boat and Bugis rooster into a competitive and contemporary football club brand. This required balancing tradition with innovation to connect deeply with local fans and distinguish the club from established rivals like PSM Makassar. Key values such as resilience, strength, and community guided the design process, ensuring the final identity resonated with both the heritage and the aspirations of the region.

Pacera FC, a conceptual football club based in Makassar, Indonesia, faced the challenge of creating a brand identity that could authentically represent its deep cultural roots while competing in the modern sports landscape. The goal was to honor the heritage of the Bugis and Makassar communities, particularly through the symbolism of the Pinisi boat—a powerful emblem of resilience, craftsmanship, and unity. However, the club also needed to resonate with a broad audience, including younger generations and football enthusiasts unfamiliar with the region’s traditions. This dual focus required balancing authenticity with modern sports branding aesthetics.

Another key challenge was differentiation in a competitive market dominated by PSM Makassar, a well-established local team with a strong following. Pacera FC needed to carve a niche that went beyond football, becoming a cultural movement that unified the community. This meant addressing the lack of cultural representation in modern sports while fostering a sense of pride, belonging, and excitement around the club’s identity and mission.

The design process began with an extensive exploration of Makassar’s maritime heritage and its iconic symbols, such as the Pinisi boat and Bugis rooster.
